Dozens of sustainable business and organizational leaders descended on Washington, D.C. this week for the 2nd Annual American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) Conference. The myriad of member organizations and business members that make up ASBC, now include and represent over 100,000 businesses across America. We discussed sustainable policies from the Jobs Act to Toxic Chemical Legislation with members of the EPA, representatives of the Obama Administration, and over 30 congressional and senate offices, many times with the members themselves.
The mission of the ASBC, now in its 3rd year and with its newly formed national c-3 and c-4 boards, is through education and advocacy, to influence the creation of public policy that acknowledges the large and growing universe of sustainable and socially responsible businesses and social enterprises.
BetterWorld Telecom President and Co-Founder, Matt Bauer, recently joined the inaugural ASBC c-3 board, as both a representative of BetterWorld and bringing a voice for small, independently owned businesses from his participation on the national board for the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, which has over 20,000 business members nationwide.
It was great to see and be with many of our great partners and customers including B Labs/B Corp, the Green Chamber, BetterWorld Club, and Dolphin Blue. We look forward to being an active voice for small, independently owned and sustainable businesses, as well as helping to provide new and fresh perspectives on telecom policy and how the industry can begin to further benefit social and environmental aspects of our society.
Great momentum from D.C!
