As part of our participation in strategy meetings for the new American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) this week in Washington, D.C., we were fortunate to sound our voice loud and clear for small business credit and investment as the Senate passed key legislation yesterday which will come to the rescue for small businesses and main street nationwide.
At the press conference before the vote, we stood tall and proud on stage with other ASBC members and partners including New Belgium Brewery, Seventh Generation, BALLE, Green America, and United for a Fair Economy and the Sustainable Business Alliance in support of Senate Small Business Committee Chair Mary Landrieu and Senators Barbara Boxer, Maria Cantwell, and Jeff Merkley joined Gene Sperling of the U.S. Treasury Department, to discuss efforts to help small businesses create jobs.
“There is nothing more important to our economic recovery than strengthening America’s small businesses,” said Chairman Landrieu. “The Small Business Jobs package improves access to capital and provides targeted tax breaks to small firms allowing them to hire workers and expand their companies. It is time to move this package forward and get support into the hands of America’s innovators and entrepreneurs.”
“This bill is crucial because small businesses are the big job creators and must have access to credit so they can expand and hire,” said Senator Boxer.
The Bill passed the Senate with bi-partisan support yesterday and now heads to the Senate/House Committee…a true victory for small business and Main Street!!
Doing our part for the recovery,
Matt
