Last week we had a great opportunity to speak to the Sustainable Business Leadership class at Evergreen State College in Olympia. To say that Evergreen is a special place is a true understatement, an icon of free thinking and creativity in education, Evergreen has a storied history that we were able to take part in for almost three hours.
As we rolled out the BetterWorld story to the 50 or so students in attendance, we received many comments and questions indicative of the quality student body and programs offered at Evergreen. There were many takeaways from both sides and the students are now able to weave some of our lessons learned from the past 7-8 years of operation into their semester projects on sustainable business.
Since opening their doors in 1971, Evergreen has established a national reputation for leadership in developing innovative interdisciplinary, collaborative and team-taught academic programs. Evergreen has been a leader in environmental education from the beginning. In recent years, they have stepped up their commitment to sustainability to reach beyond the classroom and even the campus.
Evergreen values a student-centered learning environment, a link between theory and practice, and a multicultural community of diverse faculty, students and staff working together. For more information: www.evergreen.edu
A big shout out to Evergreen adjunct professors and friends of BetterWorld, Paul Horton and Bob McIntosh for their hospitality and the opportunity to speak to the students in the Sustainable Business Leadership class. We look forward to our next visit to Evergreen!
