We were fortunate to catch the Art in Action – Oakland Green Youth Art and Media Center Dream is Alive fundraiser at the BetterWorld East Bay home, the Brower Center in Berkeley, a few days back. The turnout was amazing and the event raised over $20,000 for the new Oakland center.
The event was hosted by Art in Action, the Green Youth Arts & Media Center, Colored Ink, Community Rejuvenation Project, and Grind for the Green – – Van Jones flew out from the east coast just to speak at and attend the event, and we heard from many others including Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins of Green for All and Ocean Robbins of Yes!.
The Green Youth Arts & Media Center is a creative empowerment hub in Oakland that supports personal, professional, economic, and community development. We serve youth impacted by violence and poverty through innovative programs
Congrats to Alli, Simmy, Galen and the entire Green Youth Arts & Media Center Collective on an amazing event and all their great progress so far as the new center is already making a significant and positive impact in Oakland and the East Bay.
