Environment as Economic Engine Summit

November 13, 2009

We were fortunate this week to participate at the Nokia Siemens Networks'  Environment as Economic Engine Summit, which was held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. November 9-10.  Speaking at the event were leading academics, trend analysts, as well as government and communications industry experts who were discuss and debating the wealth of opportunities offered by a sustainable business approach in the Information & Communications Technologies (ICT) sector.

The Summit opened with a reception and dinner at the amazing Embassy of Finland on Mass. Ave in D.C. as the Finnish Ambassador to the U.S. highlighted both their country and embassy’s  commitment to sustainability, highlighted by companies such as Nokia Siemens.

This summit offered a a unique opportunity to share the latest thinking in the ICT sector about environmentally sustainable business approaches across key stakeholder groups and explore the many ways environmental sustainability can help stimulate the economy, underscore the key role of communications and drive a positive impact across industries and communities.

BetterWorld participated on a panel with other national service providers, all highlighting their sustainability efforts, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint – a special thanks to the folks at Nokia Siemens and ATIS for all their hard work pulling this groundbreaking and important event together.

In service,

Matt
