Late last week, we were fortunate to visit with ShoreBank Corp. in Chicago – where the roots of the ShoreBank collective of organizations date back to the late 1960s in the South Shore area of Chicago. ShoreBank Corporation is America’s first community development and environmental bank holding company. Headquartered in Chicago, ShoreBank is a $2.4 billion company with banks and nonprofits in Chicago; Cleveland; Detroit; Ilwaco, Washington; Portland, Oregon; and Michigan’s Upper Penninsula; and consulting services around the world.
ShoreBank has grown into eleven organizations with impacts not just in the Midwest, but the Northwest and around the world. ShoreBank is widely regarded as the established leader in the banking industry in terms of social and environmental impact, providing the banking industry with true a North Star to follow. What would be the reality if the banking industry adopted ShoreBank’s philosophies? Hard to imagine what a better world it would be.
A big shout out to Donna Pfeil and Clare Golla for their time meeting with us last week and their help bringing our two organizations closer, we will continue to explore the many possibilities between ShoreBank and BetterWorld for months and years to come. If your business does not bank with ShoreBank, please visit www.shorebankcorp.com to explore how you can truly put your money where your mouth is…
Go Cubs,
Matt
