Last week we were fortunate to meet with Sara and Jeff at Build It Green, a non-profit membership organization in Berkeley whose mission is to promote healthy, energy- and resource-efficient building practices in California. BIG provides education to builders, developers, and homeowners through extensive tools and resources, training, workshops, and events.
Three strategic objectives guide their work:
- Drive policy development—they partner with government to establish credible and accessible green building policies that promote private sector innovation and provide consistent guidelines statewide.
- Increase supply of green homes—they train building professionals on latest best practices and connect green product suppliers with consumers.
- Stimulate consumer demand—they build awareness of the benefits of green building by providing GreenPoint Rated as a trustworthy, recognized brand for green homes.
Build It Green is doing an amazing job in the Bay Area and we look forward to supporting their operations and efforts any way that we can.
