While the telecom carrier segment is slow to adopt a true & meaningful green agenda – – which is astounding to us given the massive opportunity – – there continues to be progress and the Green Telecom Summit at the CTIA / Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association convention last week was further proof that things are gaining steam. I led the days activities off with BetterWorld’s vision of the future, which is a bit further out than most folks are comfortable with in the industry, but we have adopted the front runner attitude taking telecom operators into the next phase of opportunity for the industry.
Click here for my interview with bnetTV.com after the Green Summit, which highlights many of the topics du jour for BetterWorld and the BetterWork project.
The day before my talk, which centered around the growing body of data proving that Open Work/Telegreening concepts and data, I read for the first time the new World Wildlife Fund reports (in cooperation with Microsoft) on the projected effects of telecommuting and virtual meetings on the environment, the results and breadth of data are conclusive and spot on with everything that we have been promoting through our project with the Bainbridge Graduate Institute. We see no other alternative that will have a quicker effects and impact on the environment than a massive, proactive use of tools to lessen commuting, travel, and building space – lowering costs and carbon output at the same time for organizations.
Look for our upcoming Telegreening Your Workplace webinar with TechSoup Global, as well as our BetterWork project with BGI, which we will be publishing in May and immediately taking it to the streets, delivering on the BetterWorld mission of bringing new and sustainable models of impact to the telecoms industry.
