Harvard Social Enterprise Conference 2009

March 1, 2009

The BetterWorld train today finds itself at the Harvard Business School, at the annual Social Enterprise Conference. We were invited to participate in the conference career fair but have been able to sit in on a number of amazing sessions this morning and afternoon. Currently, we’re in a packed house at the Burden Auditorium at the keynote panel with David Gergen(HBS, CNN), Bill Drayton(Ashoka), Jonathan Greenblatt (Ethos), and Clara Miller (Nonprofit Finance Fund), the house is packed, well over a 1,000 here while the snow is piling up outside.

This AM, we saw  Alexa Du Pnt Bell (Recycle Bank), Jason Pearson (GreenBlue), and personnel from EarthWatch discuss Business and Environment: Leading Industry Change, followed by Sarah Endline (SweetRiot), Erika Lesser (SlowFood USA), and Tony Maws (Craigie on Main) discuss Food As An Agent For Social Change.

Combined with what we saw yesterday at PowerShift09, it is clear that the movement of socially responsible business, social enterprises and sustainability are taking top bill and top of mind in the best and brightest of today’s leadership – stay tuned! Well, off to the career fair, more soon.

In the shadown of Paul Revere,

Erin and Matt
