After a slight break from the blogosphere, we are back in force with a number of visits and events over the past week. My colleague Jacob and I were fortunate to attend a great event/salon the other night in San Francisco – The Good Capital Movement: How Everyone Can Be a Social Investor.
Held at the beautiful offices of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, the packed house networked for awhile and then settled in for an evening of great speakers, from Dana Bitton of Digital Divide Data to Ben Black of New Cycle Capital, Kevin Jones, founder of Good Capital, John Olson of the Federal Reserve Bank of SF, and Tracey Pettingill Tuner, founder MicroPlace. We heard extensively from each of the panelists about general trends in socially responsible investing and support of companies, individuals and community efforts in many different areas of focus. Still a long way to go for sure but there is amazing progress and innovation afoot as demonstrated by these leaders and the great things their respective firms are doing to forge new ground.
The Good Business Network’s mission is to build the movement for socially responsible business. They provide opportunities to network, share best practices, and develop relationships with business, nonprofit, civic, and academic leaders, as well as social entrepreneurs, influencers, and thought leaders interested in advancing the movement for corporate social responsibility. Jacob and Matt
