Food Friends Needs Your Help

July 11, 2008

As part of our regular quarterly meeting team day – most of the BetterWorld staff could be found earlier this week delivering meals all over the Northeast section of Washington, DC.  As part of our regular volunteer work with Food & Friends, driving meals to those in need, struck down by chronic illnesses is both eye opening and rewarding. All too often we become enmeshed in our own cocoons and after spending a day working with the inspirational folks at Food & Friends, you walk away with a whole different perspective – – how blessed we really are…and how one amazing organization can have SO MUCH impact.   Pictured above, Ali and Glenn ready their meal bags for delivery and some of the team receives instruction on the routes for the day – – a quick shout out to our newest team member, Susan Rossi, in the pic on the right, she’s opening our new Portland, OR office and will be leading our sales efforts in the Northwest.

Along with nutrition counseling, Food & Friends prepares, packages and delivers meals and groceries to more than 1,400 every day people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses throughout Washington, DC, 7 counties of Maryland and 7 counties and 6 independent cities in Virginia. Since 1988, Food & Friends has provided food and companionship to literally 10s of thousands of needy folks in DC.

But due to recent federal cuts – Food & Friends is facing a budget crisis and needs your help. Please visit www.foodandfriends.org for more information and help support this critical organization in our nation’s capital.
