Late last week (yes I’m behind on my blogging) – I had the GREAT fortune to take the commuter ferry from Seattle into a beautiful sunset out to Bainbridge Island for a dinner and panel discussion at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI). BGI, started just 5 years ago by Libba and Gifford Pinchot (current President), Jill Bamburg, and Dr. Sherman Severin, has experienced explosive growth, doubling its enrollment most of the years since the beginning in 2002. In addition, the Net Impact Guide to Graduate Business Programs rates BGI as the best MBA program out of 89, including Yale, Harvard, Darden, Duke, etc. Outstanding.
BGI’s Mission: To prepare students from diverse backgrounds to build enterprises that are financially successful, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable. The panel discussion was fascinating, with Gifford asking some really interesting questions of: Cheryl Scott, COO of the Gates Foundation; Corey Rosen, Co-founder & Executive Director of the National Center for employee Ownership; and, Adam Seitchik, EVP & Chief Investment Officer, Trillium Asset Corporation – the house was packed my experience at BGI was too short, but we plan to be back soon!
