The Eco-Concert at Carnegie Hall

February 24, 2008

Earlier this week we were fortunate to attend a ground breaking Eco-Concert at Carnegie Hall, sponsored by BetterWorld customer Honest Tea, TerraCycle, Inc Magazine, Fast Company Magazine, and Rice Restaurant to benefit Inner City Music. World-renowned pianist Soyeon Lee (picture above), performed a solo recital entitled “Re!nvented,” featuring works that have been reused, transcribed, or wholly revisited. Soyeon performed the second half of her recital wearing a designer gown made from over five thousand used Honest Kids drink pouches by designer Nina Valenti. The drink pouches come from the Honest Tea / TerraCycle Drink Pouch brigade, where today students at over 535 schools across America collect used drink pouches to raise money for their schools. The drink pouches will be sewn into products ranging from tote-bags to pencil cases and are anticipated to be in over 10,000 major retail locations by mid 2008.

The afterparty was held at INC Magazine’s amazing and haunting headquarters at 7 World Trade Center, which looks right down on the buildings coming up in the World Trade Center space, amazing how far they still have to go and how much work has been done. Matt
