The BetterWorld team made it out this week to one of our regular volunteer stops, Food and Friends in Washington, DC. We helped prepare over 500 meals for home-bound people in the DC-area suffering from AIDS and other illnesses. Our ongoing work at Food and Friends is one of our anchors and really helps keep the team grounded in our community work – each time we work with Food and Friends, we are in awe as to what they have been able to achieve.
As of year end 2007, they are now providing over 1,300 hundred meals free of charge to individuals and families living throughout Washington, DC, 7counties of Maryland and 7 counties and 6 independent cities of Virginia. The F&Fs service area encompasses approximately 5,500 square miles. Since their start, Food & Friends has provided more than 9.75 million meals to more than 15,000 individuals.
