Set in bucolic Prospect Park (Brooklynites like to say that Olmstead practiced first on Central Park before perfecting his design techniques in Prospect Park) , the Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment (BCUE) has, for nearly three decades, educated and informed urbanites of all ages about their built and natural environments. We visited yesterday to discuss with them greening their communications infrastructure as they are moving into a new gold LEED certified space this October.
It is amazing the impact that one organization can have, teaching thousands of students every year how to live in and respect their environment – – Sandi Franklin, Executive Director of BCUE, has compiled an amazing staff and group of people that are setting the pace for green education and initiatives in the NYC area. Check out their site and make sure to mark your calendars for the 3rd annual Green Brooklyn 2007, which BCUE coordinates, on Sept. 21st!
